The Terminal Portion of the Pulmonary Arterial Tree in People Native to High Altitudes By JAVIER

چکیده
RADIOGRAPHIC evidence of right ventricular enlargement with bulging of the main pulmonary artery13 and electroveetoreardiographic signs of right ventricular preponderance2' 4-6 are common findings in people born and living at high altitudes. Anatomically, the existence of right ventricular hypertrophy has been demonstrated both in adults7-9 and children.10 Recently, hemodynamic studies have disclosed that these people present, at rest, a mild degree of pulmonary hypertension and increased pulmonary vascular resistance."-'3 Children below 5 years of age show higher pulmonary pressure values than older children and adults.'3 Furthermore, different from what occurs in normal persons at sea level, the pulmonary pressure increases markedly during exercise.14 The small muscular branches of the pulmonary arterial tree are primarily concerned in determining pulmonary vascular resistance. Therefore, the study of their morphologic eharacteristics is of paramount importance for understanding the genesis and significance of high altitude pulmonary hypertension. This forms the subject of the present report.

Sheep (ovine) pulmonary adenocarcinoma (SPA), also known as ovine pulmonary adneomatosis (OPA),jaagsiekte and ovine pulmonary carcinoma (OPC) is a contagious lung tumor in sheep and, more rarely, ingoats. This study was carried out in Khuzestan, in the southwest of Iran for a period of six months. A totalnumber of 3985 native breed goats were clinically inspected and postmortem examination was ...
متن کاملRight Ventricular Hypertrophy in People Born and Living at High Altitudes.
Radiological studies made two decades ago by Peruvian investigators showed enlargement of the cardiac silhouette ofpeople living at high altitudes (Rotta, 1955a; Perez Aranibar, 1948). The electrocardiographic investigations of Rotta and Lopez (1959) and Peiialoza et al. (1960, 1961) demonstrated a right ventricular preponderance in these people. Recently a mild degree of pulmonary arterial hyp...
متن کاملStress Response of Dominant Forest Tree Species South of the Caspian Sea in Relation to Soil from Coast to Upland
Distribution and growth of plant species is affected by many factors including abiotic (topography, altitude and soil) and biotic (root symbiosis) factors. In light of global warming, recent findings advocate microhabitats and micro-conditions of the root zone and canopy ambiance as determining factors in sustaining of plant populations. Although, occurrence of ectomycorrhizal (ECM) and non...
متن کاملA case of severe pulmonary hypertension associated with common arterial trunk and VSD in a 9 years old child
Background: Common arterial trunk (CAT) is a rare congenital heart disease, and often leads to the early development of pulmonary hypertension and disability. Among the critical structural heart defects, the frequency of CAT is 3%, which reflects the severe hemodynamic disturbances. The natural course of the disease is characterized by a high mortality rate up to 88% during the first year of li...
